High Schools, Colleges and Seminary

Cross of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church and School is blessed to have two high schools, two colleges and a seminary in which to send its members who desire to further their Christian education.

High Schools

When our young people graduate from the eighth grade at Cross of Christ Evangelical Lutheran School, many of them attend two high schools operated by our Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) and a local association of WELS/ELS congregations:

Luther Preparatory School (LPS) in Watertown, Wisconsin.  LPS is a four year preparatory high school owned and operated by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Its primary purpose is to train and encourage young people for the pastoral and teaching ministry in the WELS. In carrying out that purpose, LPS offers a curriculum that focuses on history, mathematics, science, English, foreign languages, music, and religion. LPS also offers a wide variety of co-curricular activities in music, performing arts, and athletics. For the LPS official web site, click on www.lps.wels.net

West Lutheran High School (WLHS) in Plymouth, Minnesota. The mission of West Lutheran High School is to use the Word of God to prepare youth as disciples of Christ by developing spiritual, intellectual, and social skills for dedicated service to their Savior.  for the WLHS official web site, click on www.wlhs.net

College

Several of our high school graduates have also gone on to Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. Martin Luther College exists to serve the ministerial needs of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS)

  • by preparing men for pastoral training at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary and
  • by preparing men and women for service as teachers and staff ministers in the Synod’s churches and schools

so that the WELS may be served by candidates both qualified and competent to proclaim the Word of God faithfully and in accord with the Lutheran Confessions in the Book of Concord. The official web site for MLC can be found at www.mlc-wels.edu

Seminary

After college, some of our members have continued on to study for the pastoral ministry at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (WLS). The purpose of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary is to offer theological training that prepares men to enter the pastoral ministry of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod or of churches within its confessional fellowship.  The seminary also endeavors in various ways to offer opportunity for theological and professional growth to men who already are serving in the pastoral ministry of its confessional fellowship. The official web site of WLS is www.wls.wels.net
